The interpretation of obscurity (visual notes)

24/01/2014

Blog Entry 8:

In this blog entry I will research others interpretations visually and otherwise of The Library of Babel by Jorge Luis Borges. I intend to look at others’ views, opinions and interpretations to gain a better understanding of how to visually communicate the text best.

Below are a number of links to different opinions on the short story The Library of Babel by Jorge Luis Borges.

Extra reading, the short story The Library of Babel by Jorge Luis Borges, on which this research is based:

(Borges, 1944)

Links to a number of interpretations of The Library of Babel, which I have reviewed:

A more simple analysis of the story - making the text more simple to understand:

(Shmoop, 2014)

A more extensive analysis of the text:

(Hendricks & Walter, N.d.)

Now that I have looked deeper into others ideas and interpretations of the text I feel that I have more to consider visually. I was originally going to look at imagery done by others based on The Library of Bable, but have since decided not to due to it possibly affecting how I may view or perceive my own representations.
